I have always valued the quiet solitude of introspection. Even when I was younger I thought that the social aspect of birthday parties was overwhelming. For years I have found myself needing to consciously force myself to participate in casual conversations, even with close friends: to resist withdrawing into the comfort of solitude. But I have come to the point where I think that, sometimes, solitude may not be enough—that there must be more to this existence than Silence.
